Biosecurity

The biosecurity in a livestock farm refers to the maintenance of the environment free of microorganisms, or to keep them at a minimum load not affecting animal health and production.

The “biosafety circle” counts and analyzes all the transmitting vectors to which a farm is exposed:

1. Entry of animals, products and materials;

2. Farm staff;

3. Transport of animals;

4. Facilities, adjacent areas and inaccessible or neglected corners;

5. Other vectors of transmission: insects, birds, mices, cockroaches etc;

6. Corpse management areas.

All materials and surfaces are likely to be reservoirs of viruses, bacteria and other microorganisms. For this reason, it is very important to design and implement a comprehensive biosecurity plan.

The X-PROTECT system is capable of influencing 4 of the 6 threats mentioned above: Transportation, facility surfaces, transmission vectors and animal corpses management areas. The X-PROTECT System prevents the development of colonies of microorganisms, thus avoiding their capacity for infection. Animal Welfare

The concept of animal welfare is multi-dimensional and includes three fundamental pillars:

• The proper functioning of the body (which, among other things, means that the animals are healthy and well fed).
• The emotional state of the animal (including the absence of negative emotions such as pain and chronic fear)
• The possibility of expressing some normal behaviors typical of the species.

Air Quality

The X-PROTECT System is the ultimate solution for ammonia (NH3) removal on farms. The X-PROTECT System is capable of reducing ammonia concentration by more than 90%. In addition, the X-PROTECT System eliminates other toxic gases from the air, methane (CH4), Sulfur Oxides, and in general, the gases that cause odors, allowing animals and people to breathe a much cleaner air, and in addition to protect the environment.

With this we achieve a significant improvement in biosecurity, animal welfare and an increase in the productivity of livestock farms, protecting the health of farmers.

• European Directive 2016/2284 on emission reduction require an immediate reduction in ammonia emissions, as well as the registration of the best available techniques that have been used to achieve this reduction. Both articles are in force from January 1, 2022.
• From January 2022, the farms must carry out an exhaustive control in order to not exceed the maximum levels of ammonia established (20ppm).
• The effects of ammonia at levels above 20 ppm can have irritating effects on mucous membranes and cause respiratory, digestive, eye, and skin diseases, and also cause a decrease in the productivity of livestock farms.
