Successful current pig industries require health and environment policies. Staff health, animal welfare and biosecurity require a special focus in all farms, transport and food processing industries. Farms are also required to adopt measures to reduce the environmental impact, reducing ammonia and other gases. This factor also has influence in the animal welfare and on the health of farmers and staff. The X-PROTECT System is not a substitute for the good practices, but rather a highly effective complement to them. The functionality and effectiveness of the X-PROTECT System is magnified on the facilities having a correct biosafety policy.

Sows

Healthy animal husbandry is an essential condition for efficient and profitable pig production. For this, a preventive health approach is needed to avoid medicalization and antibiotic resistance. The X-PROTECT System contributes to the elimination of the main diseases that affect sows and their litters:

• PPA;
• PRRS.

Piglette Weaning

During weaning, piglets are much more exposed to diseases and require more control, vaccination and medication. The X-PROTECT System has been shown to be effective in reducing and controlling the main diseases in piglets:

• Diarrhea;
• PRRS.

Fattening

The main risk of the medicalization of animals at this stage consists in the accumulation of medicine residues in the meat that will be consumed by humans. To avoid that effect, very expensive quarantine periods keep the animals in the farm after medication. The X-PROTECT system prevents diseases without the use of medication, improving productivity, reducing costs, and decreasing losses.
